The Monday funk has found its way to Tuesday
The Monday funk has found its way to Tuesday. Yes it has.
That is probably quite inaccurate. The funk has found me. The funk has owned me for what seems like months. At first I thought it was frustration over politics, but we won. The funk has not left. Damn funk.
Sometimes I feel like I'm trapped between two worlds. The mainstream world of public school and two-income families and the crunchy, hippie world of free spiritedness and permissiveness. Or between radical unschooling and hardcore sit at the table homeschooling. In our home we have found our niche. But I haven't found it in my personal life at all.
I tried to tell myself that I don't need to have a "personal life". I have a great family life. But I do need someone to talk to. Someone who understands when I'm having a bad day. Or a good day. My husband is great and he does fit that bill, but he also works 80+ hours a week.
Maybe that is why this funk is still here. I need a friend to chase it away. Damn it. I guess I should make up the guest bedroom- the funk may be becoming part of the family.

In Which Another Week Begins
It's another Monday, but I'm not feeling super stressed this week. We all slept in. Rather I slept in with ds1. The girls were up at their normal time but chose to watch some tv instead of wake us up. I was so exhausted, I was ok with that. TV time is so rare in our house these days I figured it wouldn't hurt.
Lessons went smoothly. The girls both started their WWE workbooks. Dd1 really struggles with narration. She finds it hard to summarize. Dd2 sailed though her reading this morning. Ds1 wanted to work in one of his workbooks. He did a few pages in one of his Rod & Staff books. He knows his numbers and letters so well, but writing is so hard for him. He's only barely 4 still. I don't force him to do it at all. He loves feeling like a big boy at school time.
After lunch, we all went to Goodwill. The kids are needed some jeans and I was on the hunt for some curtains. I found a nice pale green stripe set for dining room so I am quite pleased. We also wondered over to their "bargain barn"- we found a few little things there, but I scored a pristine condition copy of Tales from Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb for only 50 cents! We have been planning on using it this year and I had downloaded it, but I really prefer actual books. This copy was published in London in 1962 and has a leather cover and doesn't look or feel like it was ever read.
The kids have all been playing on the driveway for the past hour or so. It's so beautiful this time of year it certainly makes up for the summer when its unbarably hot! Tomorrow, I believe we will be heading out for a naure walk after lessons and dd2 has a Brownie meeting in the evening.
